For My Eyes Only

Monday, January 28th, 2008

I have always love taking pictures and it is something that I would really like to pursue in the coming years. I don’t mind sharing snapshots that I took but what really bothers me is when you browse to other blogs or sites and you find your photos on it and they don’t even give you credit or something and even brag that it was their photos. That is why it is nice to have private photos that are exclusively for your eyes alone or for some people that you want to share it and I want to prevent my photos and hide files so that it won’t be accessible to anyone but me. Am I being selfish or something? Well, some things are not for everyone to see.

Breakthrough

Saturday, January 26th, 2008

I have been extremely busy the past week, I’m opening my own business next month and I didn’t realize that there’s just too many paperwork involved and patience is not something that I have so imagine the torment of having to wait in line and communicating with a lot of incompetent government employees. Well, at least I’m almost done with it and I can now focus on my grand opening. I also had a breakthrough, I’m down one size and I guess working out with my fitness equipment and strict diet is starting to pay off.

Change comes from Within

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008

I think drug addiction is a growing problem in our society today and it’s not only hurting the person involved in drugs but it also causing a lot of pain to his/her loved-ones. We don’t want to see anyone we care about throw away its life with addiction and it’s a problem that we cannot solve on our own. I believe that no matter how much the person addicted to drugs wants to change he/she cannot do it by himself/herself they need professional help. They need a special kind of drug treatment that is guaranteed to work and will help them get through with addiction step by step. It’s not easy, it is not something that you just suddenly decided one morning that you wake up. An addicted person can still change and turn his life around but he needs to be dedicated and fully committed to be healed. Yes, healed, I think drug addiction is a silent disease that is causing harm to one’s body while destroying the life around him as well.

I’ve seen the worst of what drug addiction can do to a family and to a person’s life. One of my cousins was killed in a fight because of drugs and he was only nineteen. I can still remember the shot from a gun that was fired at him and all the screaming and crying of my relatives when we heard that he was shot. That was the turning point for my other cousin who was also hooked on drugs, he asked for help and said that he wanted to turn away from drugs. My family brought him to a fine drug rehab and it was a slow recovery but after two years of effective counseling and drug treatment, he came out of that facility a change man, with a renewed faith and a new life that is just waiting for him. Change has to come from within, it is not something you decide on doing overnight, it something that you should work out for and if you know anyone who is suffering from addiction in your family or circle of friends, get help at http://www.4rehabilitation.com/ and pray to God for revival. He will surely hear you out.

My Lupus Diet

Saturday, January 19th, 2008

In my personal quest to somehow ease the effect of Lupus in me, I’m always at the lookout for new medicines, new research and ways to improve my condition and avoiding the dreadful flares. It has been said over and over again that Lupus is a chronic illness, something that I would have for the rest of my life and although I’m not going to contradict Science I am claiming for complete healing through my faith in God. Somehow I know that God will release me from all these pain in His own perfect timing and for now I just need to be patient and work on some ways to somehow live with Lupus with grace…

My first step was changing my diet. I’m not really a health buff and I enjoy comfort foods a lot but I have strictly followed a diet to help boost my immune system and who knows, it might be helpful for you too.

1. Cook with Olive Oil. Excessive fat intake does impair immune system response to illnesses, however monounsaturated fats found in olive oil does not have this effect, it may even strengthen our immune system. Canola oil can be used as replacement if olive oil is not available.

2. Eat a lot of fruits, at least two to three times a day.

3. Consume vegetables at least once a day. This one was tough for me since I don’t really like vegetables but we all need it to have a good defense on any sickness.

4. Make eating fat-free live-culture yogurt a daily habit. It strengthens our immune system and I usually start my day with it as part of my daily breakfast, along with oatmeal or bread.

5. You do need something fishy, especially the ones that are high in omega-3 fatty acids such as salmon and mackerel. Fish is also the healthiest of meats that we can have in our diet.

6. I love chicken and it was a sacrifice on my part to take out its skin and just eat it at least two to three times a week.

7. Avoid red meat! Need I explain more?

Unwanted Weight

Saturday, January 19th, 2008

One of my frustrations in having Lupus was gaining so much weight. It was even the cause of my depression at some point, I remembered when I was discharged after spending almost a month in the hospital I can’t bring myself to look at the mirror because I was so fat and my clothes just wouldn’t fit me. And what’s worse is that I was not allowed to have any physical activity because my bones are not that strong. I’m glad that somehow my condition was improving, I was already allowed to play badminton again and I also bought some fitness equipment since I cannot go to the gym everyday. I’m still not in my usual weight but slowly I am losing some unwanted fats.

Ask for Help

Saturday, January 19th, 2008

During tough times, we don’t usually know where to turn to when we are badly in need of money. Of course, we have a choice whether to ask for financial assistance to your family and friends or you can pawn or sell some valuable things just to help you get by. But asking money from your relatives and even to your friends can really be humiliating and selling valuable jeweleries, etc you don’t usually get the true worth of your stuff. Well, that is why cash advance can be a big help when you need to get by for another pay check and you won’t have to go through that shame and trouble and still manages to solve your financial needs.

Sweeney Todd

Saturday, January 19th, 2008

Its official I am madly in love with Johnny Depp!

I truly admire his acting abilities, he’s versatile and talented. I watched him before in the Pirates of the Caribbean series and I just like him so much. Sweeney Todd was not the kind of movie that I would usually watch and it’s a bit “dark theme” for my taste and it’s rather gruesome but the movie was done so beautifully and the story has some sense…

It’s no wonder that there was a long line even at the guaranteed seats at Glorietta 4. My friends and I truly enjoyed our movie date in a very wonderful TGIF…
